I have a passion for creating and quilts are my medium. I'm quilt designer and book author, youtuber, and fabric designer Pat Sloan! Thank you for stopping in, I can't wait to get to know you.
I started sewing as a child (love those doll clothes!) and I continued to sew clothing for myself until I discovered quilting. I've been quilting now for over 20 years. But I made my first 'first quilt' way before that! CLICK HERE to read about it
I soon started teaching and then I created my own company
to put my quilt ideas into self published patterns.
I run my own design business called Pat Sloan & Company with my husband Gregg (the Shipping Department). We are located in Fairfax County, Virginia.
I started out my designs by drawing them in note pads, then I moved them into the computer, which was much easier!
What I have found is that I really enjoy sharing what I do. I really love to see what other quilters do with my patterns. Gregg and I spent the first 20 years of our business traveling across the country teaching and giving talks. It was a lot of fun! We closed the event portion of our business at the end of 2019, which was great timing for the pandemic that hit in 2020.
Now I have youtube videos and a large facebook community.
My fabric lines are with the amazing Benartex fabric!
And in the past I designed several fabric lines with P&B Textiles and with Moda Fabrics.
My Books were published by Leisure arts and Martingale, and a few at C&T publishing.
In addition to publishing my own patterns, I used to design patterns for all the major quilt magazines. Like American Patchwork & Quilting, McCall's Quilting, McCall's Quick Quilts, Quilters World, Quilting Arts, and the Fons and Porter magazines.
My other great passion is hosting sew alongs and doing my videos!
For 10 years I also produced and hosted a podcast for American Patchwork & Quilting Magazine.
I also work with many corporations to host events for them.

I was the Host of Auifil's Designer of the Month program for 10 years, that is one of the design teams above at the trade show.
